Chlordiazepoxide
General instructions:
This medicine is prescribed for your current illness, so do not use it in similar cases or recommend it to others.
Do not stop taking Chlordiazepoxide tablet abruptly.
Dosage & Indications:
Chlordiazepoxide is a sedative medication of the benzodiazepine class.
Chlordiazepoxide tablet are used for the short-term treatment of severe anxiety, which may occur alone or in association with sleeplessness (insomnia) or personality/behavioural disorders. Chlordiazepoxide tablet may also be used to treat muscle spasms, and to relieve symptoms of sudden alcohol withdrawal.
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
Take the medicine before or with your meals.
Contraindications:
Do not use this medicine if you suffer from the following conditions:
If you are allergic to chlordiazepoxide or any of the ingredients of this medicine .
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any medicine known as a benzodiazepine (e. g. nitrazepam, diazepam, flurazepam, or temazepam).
lung disease.
breathing difficulties while awake or asleep.
from myasthenia gravis (a condition in which the muscles become weak and tire easily).
severe mental problems.
If you have a severe liver condition.
If you have spinal or cerebral ataxia
anyone under 18 years of age unless diagnosed by a specialist doctor.
Breast-feeding & Pregnancy:
If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Do not use this medicine in the first trimester of pregnancy, unless diagnosed by a specialist doctor.
Drug Interactions:
This drug interacts with a group of drugs, such as barbiturates, blood thinners, MAO inhibitors, medicine to treat psychiatric disorders, narcotics, or antidepressants, so if you are using them or any other type of drug or supplement, consult your doctor before taking this drug.
Warnings:
This medicine may cause drowsiness, so avoid driving and working with equipment that requires full alertness during treatment.
Chlordiazepoxide tablet relax the muscles, therefore elderly patients should take extra care when they get up at night as there is a risk of falls and consequently of injuries including hip fractures.
Dosing Considerations:
This product contains lactose as a side ingredient, so if you are allergic to lactose, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
If you have any complications or diseases, inform your doctor before taking this medicine.
Side Effects:
Each drug, in parallel with the desired therapeutic effects, may also cause some unwanted side effects. Although not all of these complications occur, consult your doctor.
A severe allergic (anaphylaxis) or serious allergic reaction which causes swelling of your face or throat (angioedema), difficulty breathing, thoughts of self-harm, yellowing of the eyes and skin (jaundice), abnormality in the blood (blood dyscrasias) with symptoms such as weakness, pale skin, bleeding problems, sore throat and frequent infections.
Changes in behaviour may occur rarely. These changes may include aggression, excitement, confusion and depression.
Common:
drowsiness and light headedness the next day، tiredness، sedation and dizziness، loss of balance، unsteadiness and clumsiness، poor muscle co-ordination، confusional states، speech disorder
Rare:
headache، vertigo، low blood pressure، stomach upsets، skin rashes، problems with your eyesight، emotional disturbances، double vision، changes in the level of sexual desire، inability to pass urine، incontinence، impotence، menstrual disorder
Storage:
Store below 30 °C and protect from light and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Dosage Form:
Librawel® 5 mg: Each F.C Tablet contain 5 mg Chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride.
Librawel® 10 mg: Each F.C Tablet contain 10 mg Chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride.
